For the first time in three years, kids on the East coast were able to celebrate Halloween without a storm to put a damper on the fun. During the week at the Village School, each class took the opportunity to observe the holiday in its own way. Primary classes worked together to carve festive jack-o-lanterns, some of the elementary students baked and decorated cupcakes, and many students were offered several special Halloween themed works to do in their free time. With the lights dimmed in the gym, Doris set up festive fall activities and held lively PE classes for students to enjoy. All activities were held in a safe and positive manner so that students of every age were able to enjoy the holiday fun.
A Warm Welcome
On Saturday, November 2, The Village School held its fall Open House from 10-11:30am. It was a well-attended event as 35 prospective and current families gathered to learn more about what the school has to offer in each program level. Arriving families were warmly greeted by village school staff, teachers and parent volunteers as they entered the school gym which had been transformed into a cozy autumnal environment. After an opportunity to chat and warm up with some coffee and a bite to eat, visitors listened to a brief welcome address before being invited to join a tour of the school led by a teacher. Parent volunteers and middle school students accompanied the tour, answering questions and giving their own perspective on the school. As the event came to a close, many families stopped by to express their enjoyment of the tour and left feeling very impressed with our school.
