Middle School students attended the East Hill Farm School in Troy, New Hampshire from October 15-18. This field trip provided an opportunity for the students to learn about collaboration and applying real life skills. Students began their farm work each day at 7:00 am, participating on farm tasks such as milking a cow and goat, gathering eggs, cleaning stalls and pens, grooming horses, making bread and apple cider, and weeding a field of raspberry bushes at a local organic farm. The East Hill Farm field trips provides an extension of Montessori practical life skills, which begin in Primary and extend throughout all levels. Middle School field trips are coordinated with their science (biology or physics in alternating years) and cultural studies each year.
