Last weekend, The Village School had a great showing of school spirit and community pride as we hosted our first annual school Trike-a-Thon on Saturday, April 30, 2016 and then participated in the 2016 Waldwick 5K Race on Sunday, May 1st.
On Saturday, Toddler, Primary and Kindergarten students rode their tricycles, bicycles and scooters (our youngest students may opt to push or pull a wheeled toy) to fullfill their promises to those friends and family who had sponsored them. Elementary students helped by selling fresh squeezed lemonade and healthy muffins and fruit that they worked to prepare during the week at school. Middle School students acted as race marshals. Teachers and parent volunteers ran activity tables. A plant sale rounded out the day. All proceeds will benefit the growing gardening program here at the school.
The next day, over 55 participants of all ages ran with The Village School Running Club in the Waldwick 5K. The cold and the rain couldn’t dampen their school spirit as we raced through the town proudly wearing their orange Village School shirts! Our adults paired with our children and the day was full of smiles and fun from both participants and dedicated supporters who cheered them on from the sidelines! Many of our students placed in their age brackets and a good time was had by all.
Thank you to everyone who came out last weekend and rode, ran, walked, raced and cheered at our two active events!
