The School's leadership comprises four formal teams and the involvement of parents in all activities of the School:

The Executive Directors, Marilyn Larkin and Dadmara DeSantis, have led the school and mapped its growth for over twenty years.

Marilyn holds an MA in Administration and Supervision from Iona College, a BA in American Studies from Ramapo College, and certifications in Infant/Toddler (CMTE), Early Childhood (Fairleigh Dickenson University), and Elementary Education (NJ State). A co-founder of the School, she has been on faculty since the founding in 1977.

Dadmara holds a BA in Biology from New York University, with certifications in Early Childhood (CMTE) and Elementary Education (CMTE and NJ State). She has been on The Village School faculty since 1980 and heads the School's Middle School Program.

Directors' Council is a diverse body of professionals providing management and operational advice to the executive directors. The Council works closely with the directors to create systems and structures that support near-term growth and the longer-term vision for the School. Terms run annually in line with the School calendar, with members serving several years in sequence. The Council Chair typically serves for a two-year term. Members include parents and non-parents of School students.
