Annual Fund | Ways to Give | Show Your Support | The Development Committee
The Development Committee is a parent volunteer body that plans and executes development activities and events, including the Annual Fund, over the course of the school year. This year, the Committee is led by Village School parent Mark Schildkraut and comprises 14 parents, whose efforts provide a key boost to achieving the School's vision.
Role and purpose:
At The Village School, "development" is about furthering the school community and enhancing the character and quality of School programs through fundraising and development-related social events.
The Development Committee's Annual Fund allows us to keep tuition more affordable than comparable independent schools in our area and within reach of a diverse population. It also enables us to improve our facility, reduce our debt service, continue special cultural assemblies and teacher workshops, purchase classroom materials and equipment, grow our endowment, and support the school's financial aid program.
In December, the Development Committee conducts a Phone-a-thon, which anchors our annual direct appeal efforts. Parents also contribute directly over the course of the school year through cash gifts, appreciated securities, United Way designations, matching funds from corporations, and gifts of specific items needed by the school.
